Former UCR Softball Assistant Tairia Flowers Begins Quest For Olympic Gold
The US Women's Softball Team began its quest for Olympic Gold on Tuesday, August 12 with an 11-0 victory over Venezuela, and former Highlanders assistant softball coach Tairia Flowers got the start at first base for the Americans.
The three-time defending gold medal winning USA Softball Team must make its way through six more games in the preliminary round before the playoffs begin on Wednesday, August 20. The Gold Medal Game is scheduled for Thursday, August 21.
Flowers, a member of the 2004 gold-medal winning team, was an assistant coach at UC Riverside during the 2006 season following an All-American career at UCLA. She currently is an assistant coach at Long Beach State University.

UCR Camp FAQs
Q. How old do you have to be to attend a College Softball Camp or Clinic?
A. Each College Softball Camp usually has camps for youth and then High School camps. Check the school of choice to see the different options available.
Q. When should I start to go to College Softball Camps?
A. The earlier the better! The younger you can get started to be fundamentally sound the better. It's also great to have the College Softball Coaches know who you are when you are 10 and then they see you again at 16 and say, I remember that girl. Man, she can really play.
